Pours golden color with a white head. Grassy hoppy notes with a touch of bread. Yeasty notes.

Ratskrone Pilsener - brewed for EUCO GmbH in Hamburg. Bottle looks simple but good (new labels). Beer in the glass zippy, small head. Starts hoppy-dry, a bit soapy, some spicy hints. Finish still mild, a bit metallically. All in all not too bad for such a cheap beer.

Brown half-litre bottle: best before 2nd Jan 2013, poured into a ’Konig-Pilsner’ stemmed o.2 litre glass three times. Looks like a typical Lager/Pilsner: bright, clean and clear, the colour being mid-gold, the head snowy white and with staying power (for a Pilsner). Slight metallic sniff in the nose along with hints of beery ingrediants like hops and malts, but only hints. The taste was of dry cereal and sadly that metallic feel I got in the aroma reared it’s head again in the flavours, especially as the mouth dried. Notes of sweetness in the initial taste but that soon fades away leaving a dry bittering finish and those metallic tendencies. Cheap supermarket beer and it shows: this is the first beer in my ’Ratskrone’ tasting evening, I hope the other three are better than this.

Bottle in Berlin. Pours a vibrant, dehydrated piss yellow with a weak, white bubble head. Some sugar, candy and cereal in the nose. Medium sweet flavor with caramel, corn, cereal and wet hay. Light to medium in body with fine carbonation. Sweet, sugary cereal finish, faintly bitter with light corn and mild vegetal notes. Note terrible, but would be better if it wasn’t at room temperature.

Bottle from Carringtons, Chorlton. 4.7%. Label says it from Hamburg, am assuming its the same beer. Whatever, its a pretty bog standard pils. Golden pour with a fading white head. Flavour was malt based with grain and vague grassy notes. Crisp and drinkable, just pretty dull. Some bitterness in the finish. Had worse, but won’t be rushing back.
