New Englanders know a little something about India Pale Ales, so, we had to bring our best with Imperial New England IPA. The New England Style is a departure from traditional bitter IBU-packed IPAs. The New England focus is on the beautiful citrusy characteristics of the hops and how to enhance their qualities with every sip. Our Imperial New England IPA is curiously turbid and cloudy, with just the right hoppiness, big aromatics, and tasty flavor. We paired a special blend of sought-after Pacific Northwest Hops with traditional New England style yeast to give a deliciously juicy and floral Imperial brew that’s completely unfiltered, so your pallet will enjoy hints of fresh-squeezed grapefruit, orange and passionfruit with every sip.

Appearance: burnt yellow to almost copper color with a subtle transparency with a one and a half fingers of white foamy head which dissipated nicely to leave some light lace
Aroma: some grapefruity to orangey scents with a huge dose of sugar, some malts
Flavor: tries to mesh the prior noted aromas together but the whole thing just stays sweet the whole time; finishes sugary
Texture: medium bodied, sessionable (odd for a 12%-er); smooth yet becoming watery
Overall: I wonder if I'll be the last person to review this before they retire this. I don't see myself coming back to this.

On tap @THe Guild in Warren while waiting for a wedding to start. Typically drinking before these. Clear, medium gold, frothy short pour. Herbal, malty, onion, strong ale nose. Sweet tea, bitter glue, weed wacker hops, flash of hard grapefruit, very American barleywine. Pass.

Naming a brew after a state high point will always make me a buyer. Hiked Mt Greylock back 2010 my 4th state high point. Yellow orange decent sized head. Nose is sugary orange liquor. Tastes similar, some pine, caramel as well. Boozy warming.

This really isn't a NE-style DIPA at all. Pours an only slightly cloudy, pale golden yellow, with minimal head. Aroma is quite grassy, with bread, some citrus. Flavor follows. This is more your generic, run-of-the-mill IPA, though the 12% ABV is very well-hidden, it must be said. No alcohol burn flavor at all in this one. Wish it was a bit more distinguished.

Pours. Lear deep gold into a tulip. White head with medium retention recedes to hug rim. Sweet caramel and hot hay aromas. Thin with very sweet hot caramel and resin front to back. Tastes like golden syrup.

Poured from can hazy orange copper with a thin white head. Aromas of caramel malt light floral notes and hardly any citrus. Taste is sickly sweet malt and mild alcohol. I suppose there is some citrus and pine in there somewhere but there needs to be more to balance the insane amount of sugar. Diabetes in a can!
