Brown sugar aroma. Caramelly flavor. Thin. Sweet and sugary. Touches of artificial sweetener. Not too bad.

Very old-fashioned brown table beer, as not many survive these days in Belgium. Deeply beige, mousse-like, sticky and stable head on a dark bronze beer with ruby red hue, clear. Sweetish malt aroma (caramel) with some candi sugar, hint of liquorice, vague floral hops and quite conspicuous iron smell. Malty taste supported by extra candi sweetness, not sticky, slightly nutty, bit metallic, finishing very lightly hoppy with the expected thin mouthfeel typical for the style. Should not be judged in relation to ’serious’ beers: these table beers are merely functional, as an unpretentious daily beverage of which the taste should be of sufficient low profile as not to drown the taste of, say, cooked potatoes. In that respect, this table beer serves its purpose as good as any other.

33cl bottle from Geers, hooray for a 0€50 beer.

Dark brown, reddish shine. Tan head, deminishing but leaving a sticky lacing. Aroma of malts, malt sugar, kvas, caramel and roasted malts. Sweet malty flavour. Finish caramel, malts, kvas.
Yep, it’s a table beer allright. And quite a decent one at it. Not sure though where the hops are that are mentioned in the name. Simple, but I quite like it.

Brown with a medium sized beige creamy head. Sweet aroma with roasted maltbrown sugar, caramel and dark overripe fruits. Sweet flavor with roasted malt, dark overripe fruits, caramel and hazel nuts. Finished sweet. Quite a beer considering its abv.

Bottle, 2%. Mild farty CO2 aroma. Nice clear dark brown colour. Small fizzy light brown head. The flavour is quite sweet, brown sugar, also a little farty. Dryish finish, a bit like artificial sweetener, though I am not sure that is actually in there. Seems to have a little plastic in the finish.

(Bottle 33 cl) Most Belgian table beers are sticky and cloying with lots of artificial sweetness from added saccharine. But not here. Dark brown with a tint of red, light brown, creamy head. Very malty character, roasted malt and lots of character. Incredibly strong metallic flavours. Neat alright. 200399
