Bottle, Altes Brauhaus Bernkastel. Grainy aroma. Grainy flavor with some hops. Peppery with some licorice and cinnamon (also noticed by my wife when she took a sip). Light bitter aftertaste.

Rated from notes. First few sips reminded me oddly of some beer drunk in my teenage years, not exactly an auspicious start. A slight skunkiness at the start that thankfully vanished. A little lighter than many alts. Nice undertone of roasted malts.

Dunkel rötlichbraunes Bier mit schöner Schaumkrone. Geruch röstmalzig, Karamell, bitter. Geschmack röstmalzig, leicht schokoladig, würzig bitterer Abgang.

On tap. der Antrunk ist etwas wässrig, zum Hauptteil kommt eine milde Süße hinzu, zusammen mit leicht würziger Malzigkeit. Erst im Nachgeschmack wird das Bier altbiertypisch, schön röstmalzig und angenehm herb. Auf der Zunge verbleibt eine angenehme Espresso-Röstmalznote mit angenehmen Herbe-Süße-Verhältnis. --> für ein hessisches Altbier durchaus lecker! (Test vom 17.8.2008) --> 12,10,12,12,-,10 - 10,84

Pours a dark amber-orange. Aroma is faint sweet caramel malts, some cereal grains. Flavor is medium-bodied with toasted caramel malts. Not too complex, but refreshingly drinkable.

Enjoyed on draft at Resi’s Bierstube in Chicago. Aroma isn’t very apparent, if anything its slightly malty. Its dark out here, so I can’t really assess appearance. Taste wise its great, nice and malty with a great creamy texture.

Malzig-herber Antrunk, im Mittelteil würzig, der Altbiercharackter ist zu erkennen. Die Würze bleibt, die Herbe wächst leicht, gleichzeitig wird das Bier deutlich hopfiger. Dennoch steht die herbe Malznote weiter im Vordergrund und lenkt den Weg des Bieres auch im Abgang. Nettes Altbier! Test vom 10.1.2008, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,10,10,9,12,10 - 10,15

330ml bottle served chilled. Very nice to look at with its deep brown body topped by a moderate, dense and off-white head. Pale malty aroma. Momentary taste of hops and tangy malts. Medium carbonated and quite mouth filling (Flughafen, Frankfurt 11.09.2007).

Bottle, 4.8%. Weak malty aroma. Clear dark brown colour. Quite roasted flavour, on the brink of giving that certain roasted malt bitterness.

An amber beer with a white head. The aroma is sweet malty with light notes of caramel. The flavor is sweet malty combined with a metal note.
