Slight licorice aroma. No head. Roasted malt flavor with blackcurrant and apple. A typical smooth german-type schwarzbier. Rather thin and not abundant with flavor, but still a very nice beer. Re-rate 15 months past best before date. Porto, pepper and licorice in both aroma and flavor. Rather thin. Some grapes. Salmiac. This beer has kept itself wonderfully well.

0.33 l bottle from the brewery shop, batch #799, best before 1/10/2016. Little gusher. Clear, very dark red with a huge, fluffy, slowly diminishing, tan head. Sweetish-malty aroma of coffee, caramel and hints of dark, ripe fruits. Roasty-malty taste of mainly coffee, some caramel and hints of dark, ripe fruits, followed by a medium long, slightly bitter, roasty and coffeish finish. Medium body, effervescent mouthfeel, average to lively carbonation. Quite okay, just way too much carbonated, making it not that easy to drink.

Bottle from Bierkoning. Near black with a slight, off-white head. Sweet, fudge and milk chocolate aroma, with a touch of prune and roastiness. Full mouth feel, with more chocolate, sweet truffle and an ashy, dryish finish. Good.
