A brown beer with no head. The aroma is sweet malty, while the flavor is sweet with a slight acidic note.

500 ml bottle, bought in Germany. Deep copper colour, large beige head. Intense aroma of red fruits, dried fruits and jam / marmalade, also notes of cloves, oak and sherry. Flavour is moderately malty, slightly acidic with some vinous qualities, red fruits, caramel and rye bread in the background. Moderate carbonation, soft mouthfeel, smooth and pleasant to drink. A very nice rye beer.

Bottle. Aroma like Weizen or Weizenbock. Hazy, dark brown colour. Nice, stable and tight, light brown head. Sweet flavour, aftertaste of liquorice. Much like a weak Weizenbock, if that makes any sense. Full mouthfeel.

(Bottle 50 cl) Very dark and presumably filtered beer with a weak reddish tint. Comes with some of the same soft, fruity esters as found in Hefeweizens - and actually this reminds me quite a bit of a Dunkelweizen, perhaps with a slightly more bitter touch. Some notes of chocolate in the flavour. Interesting. 130101

Prost! Test vom 29.6.2005, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 12,10,10,9,8,8 - 9,15

Bottle. Sweet cinnamon bread aroma (with raisins). Reddish brown color with small head. Sweet rye malt flavor - very nice. Full bodied. Different and quite enjoyable.

Bottle: Hazy, dark amber coloured; not very impressive fruity (bananas), yeasty nose with some hints of alcohol; slightly malty-fruity taste, weak fruity aftertaste with only a tinge of hoppiness; quite thin bodied, almost watery; where is the rye ? Boring !

(bottle) Murky brown colour with a small diminishing of-white head. Very fruity (banana) and yeasty rye aroma. Slightly malty taste with banana notes, but a decent soft and yeasty finish. Thin bodied & unbalanced but drinkable.

Bottled (BB 11/2005)
Dark nut brown, small off-white head. Lemony, caramelly nose with barley. Medium-bodied. Wheat flavor, slightly malty. Interesting mixture of dortmunder-helles and wheat beer.

Chestnut brown, starts all clear; good, thick brownish head, slowly collapsing. Grainy, bready, faintly perfumey nose. Sweet taste, but like rosewater, perfumed. Very little else, however. I have the idea this is a bit lightstruck. Faint bread in the palate. Medium-bodied, slightly warming (at 5.3?). OK, but I'd expect slightly more character from a top German brewery.
