This 33 cl bottle was picked up from Smaakhuis just less than a year ago. There have been two previous beers in the series, Roaring Forties and Fabulous Fifties. I sampled both of those in early 2023 and liked them considerably. Now is the time to taste the last of the group that I am familiar with. I placed a Trappistes Rochefort glass in front of me and took the pour. The body is a rich, dark mahogany with amber highlights at the edges. There is no discernible head but I do see a steady stream of very fine bubbles arising from the center of the glass. I could smell the beer from a distance and it is good. Chocolate, some vinous quality, yeast and grain. Finally I lift the glass for a drink. Damn, it is fine, likely the best of the three. Chocolate malt, alfalfa, ripe berries, dark bread, a hard candy sweetness, wood and purple plums. Curiously I get a bit of burn as the brew goes down, a surprise to me for a quad. A chewy beer, quite dense. Nogne O continues their tradition of truly fine quadrupels, I hope there is another in this series.

Medium brown, sort of sludgey-looking. No head. The aroma is actually nice, a bit of dark fruit, light barrel. On the palate, lots of barrel that sort of clashes a bit with the datey malts. The alcohol is coming across too strong here, if lower this would be more cohesive.

330mL bottle, pours a deep dark brown with a few bubbles worth of head. Nose has plenty of red wine barrels, some Belgian yeast, some tannins, and a touch of iron. Flavour is intense, with tons of wood, lots of red wine tannins, plenty of iron, and Belgian yeast. Quite iron-dominant, with plenty of booze and tannins. Rather abrasive and just not cohesive. It’s not coming together for me.

Ostatecznie w aromacie rządzi "wino" i czekolada.
Wysycenie niskie. Ciało pełne, grube ale nie "tłuste", ulepkowate. Tekstura miękka, gładka. Posmak długi, wytrawny, czekoladowy, winny.

330 ml bottle. Pours a very dark brown with no head. Aromas of dark fruit, chocolate, toasted oak, vanilla, and rich toasted malts. Flavors of dark chocolate, dry oak, dark fruit leaning towards figs and cranberries, dry vanilla, and toasted malts, plus subtle vinous notes. Hot finish. Excellent.

Very dark brown with quick fading head. Aroma is like a really ripe old wine but has a boozy Cognac note too. Flavour has lots of red fruits and also loads of oak. Dry, boozy and warming.

More or less black in the glass and a small tan head on top Fine intensity in the aroma Quite fine sweetness for a beer like this Tad rich carbonated and some alcohol coming up Very fruity stuff. Also wood, vanilla and toffee in the flavor [Bottle at Nødingen Pub (Nøgne Ø) in Grimstad, Norway]
