Cask at The Star and Garter Bromley 31/07/2023 Sweet and roasted dark malty with a nice coffee roast hit, cocoa and brown sugar, soft cask,dark malty lingering coffee finish.

Can at home. Pours black, nose is roasted coffee, chocolate, caramel, taste is similar, quite a bitter coffee finish.

Cask at The Star & Garter, Bromley. Black pour with a tan head. Nice nose of liquorice toffee, coffee, dark chocolate. Taste is dark chocolate, coffee, liquorice toffee, touch of smoke. Sweet malty finish. Rather nice.

Black beer, thick brown head. Smell has coffee and malt. Flavour has lots of coffee, some toasty malt, a little lactose. Toasty and malty finish very decent.

Cask (gravity) at Smithfield, Derby. Pours almost black with minimal cream head. Aroma is basically roasted malts, with just a hint of coffee. In the mouth, coffee is much more primient – rivalling the roasted malts. There’s also vanilla, cola, liquorice and dark fruits – even a hint of aniseed. Finish is fruity and reminiscent of old enlglish spangles. Very nice indeed.
