At bierfestival Bad Staffelstein. 0.5 liters at 10.30 in the morning while I'm still hurting from yesterday and the day before...but all the locals are doing it so I will try to blend in. Almost clear oange-golden color, medium sized white head. Smell and taste malts, malty bitter, grainy a bit. Decent body, firm carbonation. Mwah. 6-3-6-3-10.

Litre swing top bottle, filled by the brewer. Light amber color. Malty flavor with hints of licorice and mint. pretty well hopped, you can notice it especially in the aftertaste. Full bodied, likeable local beer. The tiny village of Wiesen near Staffelstein has tweo breweries, only brewing for locals and guests (there’s also a Gasthaus). Visit them before it is too late!

Tap at the Bad Staffelstein Bierfestival. Cloudy, deep orange-gold with a low head. Estery and fruity, rich malt, biscuits. Fruity and quite sweet with a peppery finish. A bit worty and plain compared to the others today.

(Bierwanderung HB 8, 3.9.2016.)

From firkin @FrankenBierFest (Rome). Pours amber with a medium and persistent white head. Aroma of bread crust, caramel, grass, citrus. Flavour is balanced, crisp, medium malty with a good bitter end. Medium body, light carbonation. Ok.

At the source, namely the Thomann brewery in Wiesen-Franconia (Germany). Pours a filtered orange-amber color, kind of a caramel-like appearance, tick ivory cap. Nose: malty, bread crust, hidden notes of speck ham. Mouth: medium-soft carbonation, round body, malty, toasted bread, hops come out very softly just in the aftertaste.

Straight from the barrel at the Bad Staffelstein bierfest, 15 August 2014, as my free beer. Amber, with a decent, off-white, head. Pleasant lagerbier, with some caramel, a touch of citrus and leafy hops, leading to a soft finish. Enjoyable drinking.
