Swing top bottle. Brown, huge creamy head. Malty caramelly aroma. Malt, hops and a good deal of nutmeg in the flavor. Orange, curacao and cream. Good beer, would be better if less herbal.

Bottle from whole foods so could be quite old or not retired. Pours chestnut. Nose is caramel and plenty of malt. Tastes of toffee, nutty, malty sweetness, earth, and some grape. Interesting odd brew whose bottle caught my eye for whatever reason.

500 mL bottle from Wine Warehouse in Charlottesville, VA. Pours a dark copper color, clear but with floating particles. Medium creamy tan head with good head retention and lacing. Aroma of big spicy notes, caramel, toffee, spruce and nutmeg. The taste is toffee, berries, spruce, spices, caramel, nuts. Medium-full bodied. Smooth, with a faint bit of alcohol. Nice beer.

22nd May 2010. ChrisOs ’Blue Ridge Mountains Of Virginia’ tasting! Cloudy brown beer. Rich toffeeish malt with some sweetish ginger. Finishes dry. Not bad, the malt and ginger are well balanced. A bit different!

Bottle from Wine and Cheese Place. Pours reddish copper with a fluffy beige head. Very spicey aroma. Medium body with smooth carbonation. Flavor is spice, caramel, and chocolate. Finish is mildly sweet and rather spicey. It’s a lot better than I’m making it sound.
