Raisin and mango in the aroma. Sweet, yeasty flavor with licorice and just a bit of apple sourness. Relatively thin. Too sweet and onedimensional to make a real impression.

*Old rating, best before 18/05/07. Malzig-süßliches Bier. Röstmalztöne, karamellige Süße, nicht zu tief. Mittellanger, herb-süßlicher dunkelmalziger Nachgeschmack.

Urthel ’dubbel’ dating from the time De Leyerth still made their beers at Van Steenberge; dark brown with ruby hue, thick off-white head; caramelly profile, bit yeasty, bit spicy, dried fruits, smooth and with a somewhat thinnish body and sweetish palate with gentle spicy hoppiness in the finish. Nothing out of the ordinary, I found this one of the lesser representatives of the brand.

14/11/10/8/12/10

330 ml bottle. Slightly hazy, reddish brown body with a big, foamy beige head. Aroma of fresh citrus fruit, spices and some caramel malt. Flavor is sweet malt, caramel, fruit and spices, quite complex and delicious harmonic.

On tap @ de Geuzen, an old keg, a few months ago. Reddish brown colour, big off-white head. Aroma of caramel, brown sugar, dark fruits, some chocolate. Flavour is very sweet, brown sugar, roasted malt, some mineral notes. Dry finish. Too sweet for me.

33 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a dense light tan head. Aroma is light fruity with a mild note of caramel malt. Flavour holds a smooth and fruity Belgian yeast note. Smooth wineous and fruity flavoured. Subdued sweetness from the malt base and a mellow yeast note into the finish. Ends with a mild chalky note and a yeast accent, light fruity (dried) flavour too. Honey? I think so, the beer has that light sweet and herbal flavour of honey to it. Nice.
