We scored the most exquisite, pure Vermont maple syrup courtesy of Wonka's fine friends at Mance's Family Tree Farm in Shaftesbury, Vt. Here the woods are lovely, dark and deep and Robert Frost once called them home. The result is a lucious, sticky imperial stout bursting with warm maple, early morning coffee and a touch of blueberry chocolate. Drink up, there's miles to go before we sleep.

Can. Pours black. Maple, chocolate, biscuit, toast, booze soaked cherry. Medium body. Solid.

Can: pours black with a beige head. Aroma is maple, cocoa, molasses, roast. Taste is pretty sweet, but far from cloying. Sweetness is at the front, but the finish is pretty dry. Large, but not at all boozy. Quite good.

16 oz. can. Aroma shows me coffee, roast, mild maple. Maple is definitely abundant through the sip without getting overly sticky sweet. A real nice desert stout that probably still should be split with at least one other person. Real good!
