a paloma-style ale brewed with grapefruit tart and tangy!

From the beginning, folks seemed to love pronouncing our name incorrectly. Thanks to the similarities with a popular soda company, to some, the difference in a vowel is just not quite enough. Additionally, there’s even a catchy phrase that folks love singing to (mostly at) us. Inspired by said beverage, FONTA is a tart wheat ale fermented with fresh grapefruit.

Can at home from Yupp. Lightly hazed golden with a white head. Aroma and taste are like I’d expect for a beer based on the paloma cocktail. Citrus grapefruit and lime. And a salt hint. Crisp body.

Sample courtesy of Grumbo, cheers Graham! Clear golden colour, thin white head and aroma of citrus, fruits. Taste is tart and sweetish, orangey, lemon, lime, slightly salty, with some pale malt hints and light bitterness. Medium bodied, medium carbonation, drying sourish citric bitter finish. Quite drinkable.

29/3/2025. Can from Left Field Beer. Pours clear pale gold with a short lasting frothy white head. Aroma is citrus, grapefruit, lime, herb, salt, seaweed, hint of rubber. Medium sweetness, light tartness. Moderate body, quite lively. Interesting and does give a paloma theme.

Four pack from Whole paycheck. Rare Vos glass @home. Cloudy, pale, wispy head. Yeasty, sharp unidentifiable fruit nose. Smells like a melon & apple mix, but of course it isn't. Twangy, bittersweet, yeasty, fruit pith, very slight vinegar. Lingering bitter pith solo finish. Refreshing, just sour enough, dusty, mellow abv. Good.
