A simple base of Light Munich and Beech Smoked Malt straight from Bamberg, this one is a homage to a Bamberg classic. We’ve brought our own flair to the party by lashing this one into our dedicated decoction vessel not once, not twice, but thrice. benefit of which has added colour and caramel malt richness to this.

44cl Blik, dank Harmen! Donkerbruine kleur, vuilwitte kraag. Geur belooft veel goeds, rook, kampvuur, zoete mout, stroop, smaak blijft achter, vrij dun, rokerig, licht fruitig, redelijk zoet, bitterzoete finish. Lichte tot medium body. Niet de verwachte knaller.

ABV: 8.6%. Clear medium to dark brown amber colour with a small to average, frothy, fair lacing, mostly diminishing, off-white head. Aroma is moderate malty, sweet malt, toasted, caramel, dark malt, bock like, meat, smoke. Flavor is moderate to heavy sweet with a average to long duration, malty, caramel, smoke, meat, sweet malt, bock like, light plum. Body is medium, texture is oily to watery, carbonation is soft. Clear dark brown to black beer, small creamy beige yellowish head, pretty stable, a bit adhesive. Aroma: nice, lots of dried fruits, caramel, a little spicy, gentle roast, a little smoky. MF: ok carbon, medium body. Taste: nice, some alcohol up front, a good roast, malty, pretty bitter, some cocoa powder, dried fruits, smoky touch. Aftertaste: a bit oxidized, pretty bitter, roasted, a little sweet, malty, spicy, alcohol, smoky, a little sourish, more smoke, lovely beer!

Can (from Pien Webshop). Very deep brown colour with a small beigeish brown head. Aroma is floral, fruity. smoked and some toasted and mild wooden tones. Flavour is smoked, some roasted and mild quite sweet tones. Smooth, nice. And actually a nice Doppelbock.

Draught, taster. @Mash 22, Barcelona (Spain). 28/10/2022 [#5.575 Global - #145 Ireland - #21 Whiplash] Pours dark copper with a tan head. Good retention. Aroma: smoked malts, brown bread. Very nice smokey aroma indeed. Taste: toffee, roasted malts and plums. Medium sweet palate and medium carbonation. Next one please!

Panda at a campsite in Logroño. Thanks to Colin for this one. A reddish copper coloured pour with a fine loose beige head. Aroma is semi sweet, sticky maple brown sugars, smoked malts, peaty, smoke. Flavour is composed of semi sweet, sticky brown sugars, mellow peat and birch smoke,. Palate is medium sweet, sticky, moderate carbonation, Warming alcohol. Good.
