One of the big hops to come out of the US and shake up our brewery here in a big way of late has been Idaho 7. We’ve felt that it’s filled a gap of what we’ve been looking for in an all-rounder of a hop that’s bursting with all that stone fruit low end juicy oil you get from antipodean varieties with all the screaming exciting top notes of what the US has to offer at the same time.
As its name would suggest, Idaho 7 hails from Idaho in the USA. A land famed for its barley, cattle and potato output with hoppy bangers being added to that list – we feel Ireland and Idaho have a few things in common.
This one’s on Maris, Wheat, Oat and a touch of Carapils and fermented on London Ale III for that extra soft body. We’ve dry hopped this exclusively with Idaho 7 in two stages building to a total of 20gL and it really shows.
Body is light, airy and almost feathery. Nose is mango, guava, grape candy, light pleasant woody spice, body is bursting with fresh orange juice and rind, more candy grape with a hint of passionfruit and a smooth low bitterness to finish. All fecund in its juiciness.

[40cl can from Beer52.] An unattractive opaque golden amber pour with a tight white head; aroma of lemon and lime; milky body with some tropical fruit - apricot and pineapple; then a disappointing drying finish.

Temmelig airy I aroma, med florals of parfymeaktige komponenter. Forsåvidt interessant, men ikke et øl jeg vil drikke mye av, men det er bare min personlige preferanse.
