Cask at Bull & Stirrup, Chester. Pours dark copper with a small foamy cream head and good lacing. Malts to the fore in the aroma plus hints of lactose and yeast. In the mouth it is very briefly fruity and hoppy before quickly becoming slightly bitter with malts, nuts and a hint of cherries. Some spice comes through later on, and the finish is a little more bitter. This is quite decent.

Cask at the Cornfield Garage, Eastbourne. Poured a clear dark amber colour with a mostly lasting frothy white head. The aroma is yeast, citrus, light woody hops. The flavour is moderate sweet and bitter, with a smooth, earthy, juicy tropical citrus, light hop bitter palate. Medium bodied with soft carbonation. A decent pint!

Bottle from Northumbrian Gifts. Clear amber brown, small off-white head. Malty aroma, smoke and wood, nuts, some sweetness. The almost savoury smokiness comes through in the taste, almost meaty but there is enough sweetness and lightness for it still to be an easy drinking best bitter. Good.
