Bottle, last of the backlog ratings. Bought whilst on holiday in Devon. Poured clear golden with a just off-white head. Aroma of citrus, flowers, hops, malt. Medium sweetness, moderate bitterness and body. Slight oily texture, soft carbonation.

Described as Double Champion Wit. White Horse, Parsons Green, London. Hoppy flavor with grapes and a bit of coreander. Maybe a bit thin.

Tasted as O’Hanlon’s Double Champion Wheat Beer in order to show off its two medals, golden ale with wheat malt and creamy, dense, yellowish white head over a warm peach blonde colour, hazy with nice sparkling. Sweet and wheaty aroma with earthy, peppery hops, nutmeg, pumpkin, mango, cheese, pine resin, soap, chamomille. Fresh, vividly fruity onset with medium strong carbonation, dry background, bit grainy with sourish wheat malt, hoppy finish, resinous, spicy, honeyish and long. Very elegant, delicate and thirst-quenching ale, I enjoyed this a lot.

Bottle: (as Double Champion Wheat) Pours slightly hazy, dark gold with a tall, off-white head. Light pear, apple, wheat aroma. Taste is white fruit....pear, banana, apple.... Very light, fruity....a little bready. Very pleasant.

Cask at Holborn Whippet with Sarah. Pours a clear yellow gold with a white head that dissipates to the edges and laces. Aroma has notes of bread and hay with just a hint of sweetness. Flavor has mainly notes of bread and grain with some hay coming out towards the finish.

Brown 500ml bottle, best before 4th June 2008, drank November 2007. Poured into a Franziskaner Weisssbier glass. Huge white head, even though I poured it as slow and careful as I could (didn’t wet the glass), not all the beer got into the glass during the pour. The body was pale golden yellow, clear on the first pour with loads of bubbles rising up through the body and at speed. The beer had a slight mistiness in the second pour, not as crystal clear, the aroma and taste didn’t alter. The aroma was of grapefruit and lemons, citrus notes anyway, but not overly strong or powerful. The taste is bitter hops and some malts, maybe citrus fruits too, lemons again like the smell. The mouthfeel is dry and the lemon flavours come through stronger during the aftertaste. A summer drink for sure, I’ll have another but on a sunny day.

Warning! Early amateur rating! Light ale with a crisp palate. Frothy finish. Not too bitter. Nice lemon citrus undertone. Refreshing.
