A FESTBIER: what’s that? It’s a beer brewed for an event, in celebration of what a brewery loves to brew: usually, since this is a German tradition, a lager. A bit more oomph: a bit more malty, or hoppy, or strong.
This one is brewed for our own tiny lager celebration, Smodfest. 5.8%, with a lovely juicy maltiness, some beautiful German hops, and celebrating our fabulous soft Sheffield water.

Can from Against The Grain. Hazy deep golden body with an off-white head. Low carbonation. Aroma of dried leaves, bread and dried apricot. Flavour of earth and gingerbread. Medium body with a smooth texture. Soft fizz. A unique tasting lager with lots of flavour.

Draught at SMoD tap - cloudyish yellow with a rocky white noggin'. Grassy farmer's field nose, hay, wheat, some light fruity citrus in the taste. Decent refreshing swallyer this.

Cock. Tap down the brewery tap. Light haze on a yellow gold. Thick foam settles to a sturdy, rocky whipped egg white number. Nose has super fresh semi sweet malt. Newly mowed grass. Whiff of sourness. Grain husk. Taste has crisp lightly sharp green leaf bitterness. Minimal grainy sweetness. Good depth of body with fine brisk carbonation. Punchy leafy grassy bitterness to finish. No shortage of hops in this one. Proper easy drinking gear.

440ml can. Almost clear golden just a slight haze, big ol' fluffy white head. Aroma of toasty bready malts, caramel. Taste is slightly sweet, bready, toasty malts, a little caramel, grassy and light peppery hop spice, finishes with a solid bitterness. That's class. Better than many German ones!
