Bottle at the 5th Annual Epic Beer Tasting in Richmond, VA, November 28, 2010. Pours a hazy dark reddish amber color. Aroma of big brown sugar notes and toffee. The taste is caramel, toffee, bitter hops, raisins. Medium bodied. Quite smooth.

Bouteille 500ml, courtoisie de Blankboy. De couleur rubis foncée et transparente. Nez fruité (prunes sucrées, raisins vineux, notes de cerises et de dates), malté de caramel toffee légèrement terreux et aux notes rôties, léger de houblon herbeux, de fumée de tabac, de pain et d’alcool doux ainsi qu’un léger goût boisé (fût de chêne), des notes de chocolat noir, d’épices (notes de réglisse noire) et de mélasse. Ronde-moyenne en bouche avec un pétillement moyen et une texture crémeuse et plutôt sirupeuse. Goût fruité (prunes, moyen de raisins vineux, léger de figue et de cerises, traces de pommes) avec un léger goût de tabac et des notes épicées (réglisse noire, traces de clou de girofle et de muscade) lors de l’entrée en bouche auquel se rajoute un goût malté de caramel toffee assez sucré, légèrement terreux et aux notes rôties avec un léger goût de pain ainsi que des notes de mélasse et de sucre brun parallèlement à un moyen goût d’alcool doux aux notes vineuses réchauffantes présent jusqu’en finale, où l’on retrouve également un léger goût amer de houblon herbeux (légèrement terreux) ainsi que des notes de chocolat noir, de noix et boisées (fût de chêne). Post-goût long, moyen-léger amer d’alcool doux vineux, de houblon herbeux aux notes terreuses, légèrement fruité (moût de raisins, pelures de prunes) et aux notes de chocolat, boisées et rôties.

Brown amber...tan head....pours thick then minimizes....smells malty with a fruit muddling...sour berries (wild-like)...awww a baby barley...how darling...:)..well made, well balanced, a bit of alcohol in the finish but nice...not very complex...FOOD PARING---hot grilled sausage with white sharp cheddar...perfect!!

Bottle. Brown with a decent off-white head. Aroma had lots of dark fruit, marzipan and caramel. Flavour was sweet and fruity with a decent bitter finish. Good.

Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Dark nut brown, rich firm head. Caramelly nose. Sweet, maty and warming, Syrupy and caramelly with notes of hay before a lightly resiny salty bitterish finish. Rather harsh and someaht off balance.

Bottle: Poured a reddish brown amber with a off white head. The aroma was fruity almost of grapes and such. The taste was similiar to wine with a sweet fruit.

Würzig-alkoholischer Geruch. Stark malzig-herber Antrunk, die herbe weicht zum Mittelteil etwas, ein hopfig-süßer Ton bleibt. Dabei ist natürlich die Malzigkeit weiter im Vordergrund und wird im Nachgeschmack deutlich stärker. Unter dem vollmundigen Aroma ist eine süße Note zu erkennen, der getreidige Ton ist schon fast Nebensache. Test vom 26.6.2007, Gebinde: Glasflasche Noten: 10,10,10,12,9,10

Clear very deep ruby body with a thick frothy tan head. Sweet caramel and malty aroma. Sweet caramel and dry malty flavor with a bit of rum-soaked fruit in the background.

Huge light beige head. Slightly hazy dark brown body. Light, complex aroma of dried fruit, licorice, and malts with a touch of chocolate. Taste is a deep and complex mix of dried plums, chocolate, licorice, and spice. Light-bodied and balanced despite the complexity. Dry, licorice and cocos aftertaste. A truly excellent beer! (0.5l bottle.)
