22/XI/22 - on tap @ HoReCa expo (Gent), BB: n/a (2022-1673) Thanks to Erwin, Peter and others for sharing today’s beers.
Clear blond yellow beer, small creamy irregular white head, unstable, non adhesive. Aroma: very soapy impression, floral, perfume, highly unpleasant. MF: soft carbon, medium body. Taste: very soapy start, bitter, floral notes, slightly fruity touch. Aftertaste: bitter, soapy, floral, pretty bad and unpleasant, herbal touch, more soap, don’t like it. What’s up with this stand? All the beers here taste awful.

Got in a trade with Shanex. 330 ml bottle into pint glass, best before 2/5/2021. Pours lightly hazy/cloudy golden amber/light orange color with a 2-3 finger fairly dense and fluffy off white head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a large cap that lasts. Thick foamy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, cracker, white bread, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. A bit too fruity/yeasty aromas, but not overwhelming. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale malt notes; with solid strength. Taste of orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, cracker, white bread, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness. Light-moderate pine, citrus peel/zest, herbal, floral, woody, grassy, peppery bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of orange, grapefruit, lemon, lime, peach, pear, pineapple, apricot, red apple, melon, citrus peel/zest, wood, light peppercorn/pine, cracker, white bread, lightly toasted biscuit, herbal, floral, grass, and yeast earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale malt flavors; with a great malt/bitterness balance, and no astringent hop flavors after the finish. Fairly crisp/clean finishing. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering bitterness and carbonation. Medium-plus carbonation and light-medium body; with a very smooth, moderately bready/grainy/sticky, and lightly resinous/rindy balanced mouthfeel that is great. Zero warming alcohol as expected of 5%. Overall this is a very good pale ale. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of citrus/earthy hops, fruity yeast, and pale malt flavors; very smooth, refreshing, and fairly crisp/clean to drink with the mellowly bitter/drying finish. Nicely soft and not aggressive. Very flavorful and not watery for the ABV. Feels like a mix of Cascade and East Kent Goldings. Nice balanced mix of vibrant citrus/earthy hops, fruity English yeast, and a clean pale malt backbone. Minimal residual sweetness with crisp dryness. A very enjoyable offering. Feels more like an English pale ale than the labeled APA, but still well made.

Bottle from Terre de Boissons Calais and drunk at home. Hazy amber colour lasting cream head. Big head. Grapefruit hoppy aroma. Malt is there and supporter of the hops. Overly carbonated. Easy drinking good apa. Good bitterness on the finish. Good session drinking apa.

Pale yellow colour with light haze. Very pleasant and subtle hop aroma with a touch of citrus. Flavour is similar. Citrusy and floral. A little thin bodied but a good example of moderation and balance.
