330ml bottle. Opaque, darkest brown colour with very late awakening, small, creamy, fading, beige head. Roasty, slightly spicy, minimally chocolately, dark malty aroma, notes of liquorice, a touch of leather, dark chocolate, some oak, vanilla. Taste is BA supported, roasty and slightly chocolately, minimally spicy, dark malty, slightly caramel malty with some residual sweetness, slightly fruity alcoholic, notes of dark chocolate, some caramel, plum, plum wine, oak, leather, vanilla; lingering, oaky and minimally warming, alcoholic finish.
Oily to viscous texture, smooth and soft, minimally cloying palate, fine, soft to flat carbonation.
Rich, condensed, well adjusted BA support - pretty decent.

Optisch kräftig dunkelbraun bis tiefschwarz. Die braunstichige, grobporige Schaumkrone fällt sehr bescheiden aus und fällt auch rasch zusammen. Olfaktorisch dominieren sofort kräftige, röstmalzaromatische und leicht rauchige Noten von dunkler Schokolade und feinem Vanille des Eichenfasses. Der Antrunk kommt sehr feinrezent und unglaublich kräftig und leicht süßlich röstmalzaromatisch. Die dunkle Schokolade und die zarte Vanille schlagen gemeinsam mit einer zarten Likörnote wie eine Bombe ein! Der Körper präsentiert sich mit einer tollen Fülle, einer sehr feinen Rezenz, einer samtigen bis leicht öligen, aber tanninreichen Textur, einer angenehmen Wärme und einer leichten, sehr angenehmen Trockenheit. Auf Zunge und Gaumen erreicht dieses Bier eine schöne Temperatur und die Geschmäcker und Aromen explodieren regelrecht. Dunkle Schokolade mit zarter Süße, entsprechend leichten Bitternoten und einer sehr zarten röstigen Säure. Dann der schöne, unglaublich gut eingebundene, vanillige und leicht rauchige Eichenfasscharakter. Ebenso schöne, sehr angenehme Tannine, die man auch von sehr gutem Rotwein kenn. Okay... mit 13,2 % Alkohol ist dieses Bier eine echte Granate, wirkt aber im ersten Moment überhaupt nicht so, da die alkoholische Note hinter der kräftigen Aromatik gut versteckt ist. Der Spaßfaktor und die Trinkfreude sind in Anbetracht dieser Tatsachen immens hoch. Im überaus langlebigen Nachtrunk wirken die Röstmalzaromen mit den Echenfassnoten scheinbar unendlich lange nach. Die Tannine des Holzes setzen sich leicht trocken wirkend auf Zunge, Gaumen und Lippen fest und erinnern tatsächlich an das Trinken von kräftigem Rotwein aus dem Barrique.
Fazit: Outstanding! Einfach gewaltig! Sowas muss man mal den Leuten zeigen, die auf schwere und gehaltvolle Rotweine aus dem Barrique stehen. Ich wette, die Begeisterung wäre enorm!

330mL bottle, pours a thin dark brown with a small tan head. Nose has some soy sauce, toasted malt, and a touch of vanilla. Flavour is full of cola, booze, and light vanilla, with a very thin palate. Rough, thin yet boozy, and lacking cohesion. This just isn’t good.

Süß-säuerlicher Malzbeginn mit leicht erhöhter Viskosität. Zuckrig, Alkoholnoten, deutlich schwächer als gedacht, auch nicht wirklich erkennbar harmonisch. OK. 9/8/9/8/8/8

Bottle picked up at Bierkiste, Munich and consumed at home Wednesday 29th May 2024 listening to Riley & Co on 6Music after a Sausage & Lentil stew for tea and after a few hours on the garden this afternoon cutting up and stacking the rest of the wood. Pours pitch black color with a fast disappearing tan head. Aroma is coffee, caramel, bourbon, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is smooth, roasty, oaky with vanilla and coffee and chocolate also showing. A very nice Impy which drinks far easier than it should for a 13.2% beer, in fact I was amazed at that abv. Great beer!

Schwarze Farbe mit beiger Schaumkrone. Malziger, röstmalziger Geruch mit Kaffee und Karamell. Geschmacklich malzig, röstmalzig mit Eichenfass, Kaffee, Vanille, Schokolade und Karamell. Hohe Süße mit leichter Bitterkeit, voller Körper mit spürbarer Kohlensäure.

Almost clear, dark brownish to black color and a tan head. Nose is malty, roasty, liquorice, lovage. Sweet malty taste, caramel, chocolate, dried fruits, liquorice, faint vanilla. Finish is a battle of sweet malts and woody astringens.
