Originally made for the ‘Kraddel’s 10K Madness’ event, as a surpise 11th unique drink. This mead was designed in line with Kraddel’s favorite beer-additions. Maple syrup, hazelnut, vanilla and cacao were added in the process. This unique mead has been shipped almost exclusively to Belgium, with just enough left in Arizona for the true Superstition fans to try what has to be one of the best meads ever made.

28/VII/18 - on tap @ Kraddel's 10K event, Beerlovers Bar (Antwerpen) - BB: n/a (2018-918) Thanks to Geert for sharing the glass!

Clear dark blond to copper orange mead, no head. Aroma: rather faint, some citrus, fruity touch, alcohol, lots of honey, horse stable. MF: no carbon, medium body. Taste: lots and lots of honey, sweetish and sugary, but also very fruity, mango and peach. Aftertaste: sugary, very drinkable, honey. Nice mead, but where's that hazelnut, vanilla, cacao, ... ?

Tap at Kraddel's 10K Madness, congrats Dylan! Pun on Halestorm - Freak Like Me. Clear golden color with no head. Aroma is nutty, hazelnuts and walnuts, honey, flowery, not really cocoa. Taste is flowery honey, hazelnuts, extremely flowery, not too cloying, lovely! Cocoa noticeable once it warms up. Oily mouthfeel, flat. A lovely and balanced Mead!

This Mead was made for the event surrounding my 10.000th review. This mead was the 'secret surprise', the 11th, 'not beer' drink on top of the 10 unique beers I had made. The idea was for one of my favorite meaderies, to make a mead with all my favorite ingredients. It's maple-based mead, with additions of cocoa and hazelnut. Most of this batch will be available in Belgium ( 1 keg, and several bottles ), very few will be held back to sell on superstitions webshop, and taproom ( both very limited) . 300 bottles and 1 keg made in total. This mead is named after the song 'Freak Like Me' by Halestorm. Pours clear pale blonde. Smell is full, funky honey, mild maple. Rather background focused hazelnut. Taste is full, sweet. Sticky, maple, honey, mild hazelnut, cocoa background. Full honey and maple sweetness. Huge thnx for superstition for joining forces on this one !
