16 oz can from McGowan and Sons in Valparaiso, Indiana. Pckg on 11/02/23 per bottom of the can. The pour is an inky black, motor oil dark, with a dark khaki ½ inch head that immediately fizzles and falls. The aroma is soft roast char, a bit of fruit sweetness, banana almost and more general caramel malt. The taste is initially the char roast, turns to some sugar cane, a bit of iodine and then finishes bone dry with the char and mineral. The palate is medium bodied, soft carbonation and the bone dry char roast finish. Like one of the other beers I had from here, I would love to try it fresh.

A black beer with a big tan head. Aroma of roasted dark malt and coffee. Taste of heavy roasted dark malt, coffee beans, vanilla, ash, long bitter finish.

16oz can. I would guess I had this on tap at the brewery in Hammond but this is the first time at home. Thick rusty beige head, steady. Deep black-brown body. Rich roasty malt tones. Big on the specialty malt. Not really that much finesse, but rather big and bold flavorwise I suppose. Unique, but rather amateurish.

Creamy caramel head left a cover on a near black still body. Dark chocolate, malt, liquorice & dark spirits aroma. Medium bodied, creamy to the fore with tingle on the thinning back & cloying aft. Bitter tasting with malt, under ripe fruit, stone fruit, dark chocolate & a tangy finish.

Can shared at Kingsday Tasting 2019. Opaque black color, decent sized brown colored head. Aroma is malts, heavily roasted malts. Flavor is malts, heavily roasted malts again, dark malt bitter, bitter. Coffee roast as well it seems. Good but a bit harsh on the roast, although I usually like that so there must be something wrong with me. 8-4-7-3-15.
