Snowblind reclaims the traditional implication of Stout meaning strong or robust, rather than dark. With lactose and flaked oats alongside roasted coffee, cocoa nibs and fresh vanilla pods you get a body and flavour that provide the full Stout experience. It’s the Tonka beans that make this moreish, adding more vanilla, liquorice, caramel and almond.

Slightly cloudy blond beer, some chains of very small bubbles crawling upwards very slowly through the thick beer, forming a solid creamy off-white head, very stable, adhesive, leaving a nice lacing in the glass. Aroma: lots of coffee up front, followed by a lot of tonka, vanilla and cinnamon notes, sweetish impression. MF: soft carbon, medium to full body, creamy texture. Taste: sweet start, lots and lots of tonka, bit of mocha, soft bitterness, vanilla notes. Aftertaste: sweet, lactose, vanilla, mocha, some coffee, decent.

Keg at The Castle, North Acton, London. A golden/yellow coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, tonka, vanilla, slight coffee aroma and taste. Quite pleasant but not much complexity in this one.
