Vault City x Bruichladdich x Brewgooder
The beer was brewed in Portobello, Edinburgh, using a mixed fermentation base sour and barrel-aged in Bruichladdich casks for nine months to infuse it with the iconic character of Bruichladdich’s unpeated Islay single malt. The depth of flavour from the casks provides delicate notes of sweet oak and barley, while the addition of hand-picked lemon balm foraged locally from Islay and Scottish heather honey create a perfect balance of tart acidity and smoky-sweetness.

Bottle from Westhill Service Station. It pours hazy muddy blonde with a foamy white head. The aroma is sweet - sour, tangy, plenty of honey, tangy lemon balm, barley sugar, toffee, touch of whisky and oak..... definite hot toddy vibes. The is tart, tangy, sweet - sour character, puckering, lemon balm, lemon sherbet, whisky & lemonade, honey sandwiches, honeycake, barley sugar, oak, some tannins, nip of acidity, underlying alcohol warmth with a more drying, oaky finish. Medium+ body, fine carbonation and fairly full in the mouth for a sour. Interesting stuff. Definitely has the aforementioned hot toddy character to it. Novel.

Keg @ Tap and Can. Misty golden yellow pour, very thin white head. Aroma of honey, hot toddy, whisky. Taste continues along these lines, really not my cup of tea but all elements come across well and achieves its purpose. Warming honey presence works harmoniously with the Bruichladdich malt whisky, brought out further by a gentle sour edge. Quite strong flavoured. Again, not for me, but it's presented well so rated accordingly.
