Bottle, drink watching Lock Stock & 2 Smoking Barrels for the first time in nearly two decades, after Satish borrowed my DVD and forgot to give it back. Dark brown with a small, fine tan head. Nose is fantastic, brown sugar and grain, powerful aroma of smooth/not smoky whiskey. The flavor is yeasty rounded molasses & dark sugar, umami but not too soy, full of all kinds of dark roasted grains, very complex. Not overpowering in any way, earthy herbal bitterness matches the mild sweetness. Whisky comes in strong as well at the mid palate to the finish, leaving some barrel aged goodness on the tongue. Wow! I need more, it's just what De Dochter ordered. Might be too much for non whiskey drinkers.

Bottle. Color: Very dark ruby to black, dense mocha head. Aroma: Malty, boozy, sweetish, Whiskey. Taste: Over moderate sweet, light roasted malt, caramel, hints of fudge, chocolate and coffee, nicely combined with boozy Whiskey notes. Notes of almost sirupy dried dark fruit and raisins. Warming mouthfeel at the long lasting boozy finish. Base beer and barrel are very well balanced as I am used to from dDvdK. Nice complexity. Over medium body, below average carbonation. Great slow sipper.
