330ml bottle. Pours an opaque black with a small, creamy, long lasting, beige head that laces. Aroma of roasted malt, dark chocolate, earth and coffee. Sweet flavour of roasted malt, dark chocolate, licorice, oats and a hint of smoke in a dry, mild bitter coffee finish. Medium body with an oily texture and soft carbonation. Tasty and enjoyable.

330ml bottle bought at Vinmonopolet Langnes. Pours a deep black body under a fawn coloured head, spotty lacing. Attractive smell of dried fruits and roasted bread-like malts. Well blended taste of earthy malts, chocolate, and a bite of dried fruits. Drying, roasted bitter ending. Fine bodied. Good drinking on a Saturday eve. (TromsΓΈ 12.11.2022).

Harviestoun Old Engine Oil Export Stout 6% 500Β₯ can from Isetan, inky black with a dense tan head of foam with impressive staying power. The aroma is savory soy and cacao. The taste is roasty sweet dark malts with bitter cacao, roasted oats and that umami savory element the aroma promised. Good value Scottish example of the style.

330ml bottle. Quasi black colour with small, creamy, fading, beige head. Roasty and chocolately, slightly bready, dark malty aroma, notes of burnt coffee, pumpernickel, blood, iron. Taste is bitter roasty dark malty and bitter, grassy and minimally metallic hoppy, minimally diluted notes of coffee, some burnt coffee, pumpernickel, blood, iron, rust, subtle residual sweetness, very weak fruity overtones with a touch of blueberry and raspberry and metallic interludes; slightly metallic finish. Watery texture, slightly dry palate, medium, soft carbonation. Quite some subtleties but in a very light and merely suggestive mode, highly drinkable - very, very nice.

This stout poured a deep black colour with a creamy, tan coloured head. Nice lacing. Scents include dark toast, caramel, coffee and a little cocoa. First swig was smooth and velvety with flavours of burnt toast, molasses and coffee. Finish is burnt and sweet with coffee flavours lingering. Delicious!
