Orange-colored Trappist beer from Italy, with a pleasant balance in malty, spicy and fruity flavors. The orange peel gives an extra fruity and bitter character. Slightly sweet in taste with a fairly dry, fairly bitter aftertaste.

Bottle from Geers, Oostakker. Pours hazy orange with a big, slowly, diminishing, frothy, off-white head. Aroma of apricot, mandarin, cheese, yeast, orange peel, vague triple sec, herbs. Taste has sweetish apricot, mandarin, yeasty profile linked with doughy & honeyish malt, sourish accent, bitter herbs, spices & orange peel. Peppery hoppy finish, a tad grassy, yeasty, orange peel accents lingering. It took a while to actually get the aroma because it's rather subdued; the end result is a nice, refreshing drink, but there's nothing remarkable about it. An Italian Trappist is still a curiosity, but Scala Coeli inevitably falls in the mediocre segment.

Pours blonde, fairly clear, mild amber glow. Relatively big white head. Bit creamy in texture, but fading medium fast. Still keeps a nice base foam though, it doesnt dissapear completely. Taste is bit malty, but not very fresh. Herbal grainy notes, bit honey like. Still 2 years on the best by, so I am not convinced this is trough age. maybe it was shipped and or stored to warm, but even than... Taste is likewise. Grainy, malty, but very unfresh. very hebal. Hoeny like quality ( yet not the honey sweetness ). perhaps a milder touch of DMS ? relatively bitter, but it doesnt blend in nicely. Not a big fan. High carbonation, medium to medium thin body .

Golden color. Bottle, slight gusher. Pear, caramel and sherry. Smells and tastes oxidated. Pear in the sweetish floral flavor. Citrus, honey and sherry. Thin, but not too bad.

Fles geprobeerd met LiekevdV. Het is een troebel oranje bier met een volle witte schuimkraag. Het heeft een fris zoete licht bittere geur. De smaak is fris, fruitig, sinaasappel en een wat kruidige afdronk.

Light gushing to good, quite dense, light-yellowish head over UFO-laden veiled orange-ochre beer. Faint citrus, mainly orange, bubble gum, faint rosewater, aromatically spiced, giving a neutral to sweet impression. Bitterish, even hoppy, but certainly more spicy, with orange peel, curaรงoa. Faintly toasted and more neutral malts underneath. Hint at conifer. Slightly oily slickness, again confirming the orangepeel. Medium bodied, medium to well-carbonated. Better than the base Tre Fontane and better than the sum of its parts.

Orange/amber beer. Belgian yeast, grainy, some fruity notes, some orange peel. Ok but nothing exceptional.

330ml bottle. Cloudy, dark orangey, golden colou rwith average to huge, creamy, moderately lasting and lacing, off-white head. Caramel and biscuity, malty aroma, a touch of chocolate biscuit, whiffs of orange, orange peel. Taste is zesty, citrusy fruity and biscuity malty, a touch of caramel and chocolate biscuit, some orange, orange peel; minimally watery passages. Not overly intense, but a nice, harmonious composition.
