A rich Imperial Stout, brewed to be gluten reduced for those who still like to live on the edge.

Taste: Sweet cedar wood and toasted bread jumps out first, with a decadent dose of rich dark chocolate coated in treacle. Floral manuka honey is then joined by elegant pecan and a touch of bitterness to balance before rounding out with an assertive malty backbone.

Bottled 330ml (Smaakhuis)
Opaque colour, tiny beige head. Roasted, burned malts, salty licorice in the nose. Medium-bodied, active carbonation. Roasted, licorice, dark coffee, some alcohol in the flavour. Basicly ok but quite straightforward and a bit hard.

Tap at Valhalla. Pitch black with a grayish head. Sharp aroma, raisins, plum jam, light alcohol. Sweet taste, creamy, raisins and dark caramel, ending bitter, more alcohol. Apart from a light touch of orange syrup tastes like Tomislav used to taste, only racked up to 10.5%. Which is both good and not that good, but still, average, imperial stout. For coeliacs, however, this will be fantastic, so extra point overall for that.

33cl bottle bought at the brewery. Pours muddy dark, dark brown, close to black without much head to speak of. Roasty aroma with fruity notes; dark chocolate, prunes and ryebread. Medium sweet with ditto flavour intensity and bitterness. Feels a bit thin and carbonation is fairly high, but alcohol is well integrated. Tasty and enjoyable without being memorable, but certainly a nice beer.

Bottle from sip. Straight from the bottle. Aroma and flavor are sweet, roast, malt, chocolate, metallic notes, coffee. Carbonation is high. Overall: good enough I guess.
