A stout inspired by the American variation of the style but is hoppier and more robust. Jester uses abundant roasted malts to achieve an opaque black appearance with dense brown head, and including just the right amount of caramel malts to balance the roasted flavours and aromas with sweetness, while also adding body. This beer is made with classic American hops; Columbus, Chinook and cascade; that deliver citrusy aromatic notes with a hint of wood.

Can from Beer52. Pours black with moderate sized beige head, nice retention. Hoppy citric zest aroma with some roasted malt and pine. Not sure what the difference is between an American Stout and a Black IPA but not much going by aroma. Taste is also quite citric and pine noted before the roasted element comes in, some coffee, not picking up chocolate mentioned on the can, herbal-roasted bitter finish. Medium+ bodied, fine carbonation, semi-drying. Good.

Poured from 473mL can (pkg July 24, 2023; bb April 24, 2024). Dark brown with small beige head. Aroma shows weird fruity citrus hops, taste is more predominantly roasty malt with some of those fruity notes in the background. Just okay.

On tap at El Honesto Mike - Lavaria, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of roasted malt, black liquorice, and plenty of woody hops. Flavour is full throttle, with tons of roasted malt and a big woody hop presence. Great balance, with that dry, roasty, woody finish. Excellent.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy black pour with a ring of tan head; aroma of chocolate and coffee; smooth and velvety in the mouth with a coffee flavour; then a strong roasted grain bitterness followed by some oats and toast and a gentle warmth. A rather good stout.

330ml can via Fierce and Beer52; BB 23rd November 2023. Drank at home in the early hours of 2nd February 2023. Not too sure what an 'American Stout' should taste like, but this dark brew was fine, beige head on the almost black body and enough malty goodness to keep me happy, chocolate and coffee esters and flavours. Don't see many Chile Scottish beers around here!

Large rocky tan head stayed on a dark brown coloured body. Minimal berry aroma. Medium bodied, sharp with a creamy back. Malt, pine, resinous, herbal & chocolate tastes with a bitter citrus. Good one.
