A dark version of a wheat bockbier, using crystal malts as brewed traditionally for autumn in Bavaria. A touch of classic Hallertauer hops add an elegant bitterness and long finish.

Pours mahogany with good sized beige head. Aroma of dark caramel, light smoke with hint of dried fruitiness. Taste is malty with toffee, fig, roast and a floral bitter finish. Medium bodied and a touch sticky on the palate. It had more potential on the nose but I found the flavour/mouthfeel a bit stodgy. This is only my 6th Dunkler Bock but I've never rated above a 3.4. Yet to find a really good example of the style.

Dirty brown colour odd slightly sour cocoa/chocolate aroma and flavour, not particularly pleasant

33ml can via Beer52: BB 4th September 2024. Drank at home on 27th October 2023. Car crash of a Bock, hazy dull brown, tanned topping. Just bloody awful, I love sweet malty Bock biers, this fell at every hurdle.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A cloudy chestnut brown pour with a fast fading beige head; malty aroma; rather thin with malty taste and some spice and yeast; then some plums and chocolate in the finish.
