Think dark thoughts; coffee, molasses, toast. This is the smoothest of oatmeal stouts.

Cask at Henry Potts, Chester. Pours a dark chestnut a medium sized off-white head and good lacing. Not much of an aroma – vague hints of malts and caramel is the lot. In the mouth it is quite watery with a slight bitterness, and flavours of nuts and malts. After a while some autumn fruits and cloves come through as well leading to a slightly dry finish. It’s ok, but rather bland to say the least – I struggled to finish it.

Cask @ Shrewsbury Real Ale Festival 2023. Pours dark, beige-esque bubbles atop. Aroma of bitter espresso roast, continuing to taste with a prominent coffee grain presence. Bitter end to proceedings. Ok.

Shared third of a pint at the 31st Shrewsbury Beer Festival in St Mary's Church on 28th September 2023. Beige crown on an almost black body, esters of coffee grains ooze from the beer, taste also dominated by coffee flavours, pretty sweet too.
