Classic English Porter. Named after the neighbour town of Pasaia-Pasajes. An historic port for the Basque region.

A deep rich mahogany colour with aromas of espresso, bitter chocolate and toasted bread. Bitter and sweet flavours of raw cocoa nib with German Chocolate Cake slathered with coconut frosting followed by a dry finish.

Can from Beer52. Pours black with nice looking beige head. Aromas of roast, coffee, chocolate, brown sugars. Nice depth to the flavour with chocolate, caramel, hint of vanilla giving a sweetness but there is quite a bit of roasty bitterness, some liquorice to balance. Medium bodied. Very nice.

330ml can via Beer52: BB 31st January 2024. Poured into a La Chouffe stemmed tulip at home on 18th September 2023. My last beer in a mini-tasting session with myself. Deep, dark brown body, slick and smooth tanned head. Nice slick body for an English Porter, rich and hearty; coffee and chocolate esters and flavours. Nice finish to my little tasting, Beer52 do score well on occasions!

Can from Beer 52 – drank at home. Pours almost black with a sizeable but transient frothy beige head. Bit of a strange aroma ; took some time to pin down but I finally nailed it – very milky coffee mixed with toast ! I the mouth it is smooth, quite sweet with a creamy texture. Flavour has malts and honey initially, quickly followed by a mix of milky coffee and chocolate. Maybe a hint of chillis later. Finish is quite sweet. This is a really good porter – hides its strength well too.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy chocolate brown coloured pour with a thin beige head; chocolatey aroma; bitter taste with chocolate and heavily roasted grains, and perhaps a hint of chilli; then a smooth chocolate milk finish.
