A modern spin on a timeless classic. Dark grains and dark Munich malt give this beer layers of cereal complexity, as well as its black colour, tinged with red in the right light. Fava Bean is added for yet another layer of intrigue, lending moreish umami notes. Silky smooth and highly drinkable.

Pours a near black/dark brown with small beige head. Aroma of dark malts, cereals and stewed veg. A nice mouthfeel to this being medium bodied, slick with a fine carbonation. A nice roastiness in the finish. Its a shame as the vegetation note of the beans is a little unpleasant and overbearing.

[33cl can from Beer52.] A glossy mahogany coloured pour with a ring of beige head, rather nice colour, but very flat; odd vegetal aroma; strange taste as well, with a creamy body ; and a little burnt grain bitterness to finish. Odd.

330ml can via Beer52: BB 21st March 2024. Drank at home in the early hours of 27th April 2023. Poured into my Gordon's thistle shaped glass, it looked good; black with a thin tanned head. Ground coffee in the nose and taste, I have decided that Fava beans are not for me and this beer isn't either, nearly poured it down the sink.
