Billie's Craft Beer Fest 2023, Friday. Black colour, no head. Aroma and Taste of intense coffee, sweet dark malt, vanilla, espresso. Awesome.

Brazilian imperial stout, from a brewery I never heard of; at BCBF. Open and thin, mocha-coloured head on a black beer with bronze-copper edges. Aroma of melting dark chocolate, coconut flakes or even Bounty candy, dry caramel, Tia Maria coffee liqueur, walnut oil, wet leather, latté. Sweet onset but not overly cloying, candied dates and pear jam with a hint of black olive-like umami, medium carbonated with full, oily mouthfeel; thick layers of black chocolate, roasted coconut, toffee ensue, with some of that umami lingering a bit, until everything is gently warmed up by brown rum-like alcohol, making for a lovely long, bittersweet finish. Feels as exotic as Ipanema beach – and very solidly made too, this was one of the more pleasantly surprising beers of the festival for me.

Pours black, no real head. Scent is raw coffee (green), very harsh and herbal. Taste is full, roasty, very harsh on the 'raw' coffee. Not a big fan. Fairly fullbodied, low carbo

Draught No head whatsoever; deep dark beer with a brown rim. Coffee, roast, and smelling quite sweet. Liqueurish, Haagse hopjes, praliné, chocolate, oversweetened strong coffee. Coconut remains pretty hidden. Very full bodied, viscous, sticky, oozy. Wow; despite being very sweet it remains likeable.

Nice coffee spice. Great base but the coffee makes it. __ Billies Craft Beer Festival 2023__
