On tap at Battlefield Brew Works in Gettysburg. Labeled as North Country Irish Red Ale. Deep copper red pour. Creamy beige head. Toasted malt nose hints at caramel. Flavor is dark toasted malt, sweet caramel and brown bread. Low carbonation. Soft mouthfeel. Decent.

Can from MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity! Clear deep reddish brown color with a tightly bubbled tan head that dissipates quickly. Heavy toffee and caramel maltiness with an earthy edge to counter. Rich sweet caramel maltiness with earthy and bits of oxidation obviously present. Medium to thin body moderate carbonation. Middle of the road Irish ale with a bit of an oxygen problem.

Sample at the Big Tap In on 05/31/2014 (as Station 33 Firehouse Red). Reddish-amber color with a medium off-white head that dissipates quickly. Spotty lacing. Malt, caramel and mild hops in the nose. Light-bodied with flavors of bready malt, caramel and slight hops. The finish is sweet with a short malty aftertaste. Slightly above average overall.

Sampled on draft at the brewery this beer poured a medium brown color with a tan head. The aroma was lightly roasty and nutty. The flavor was dry, nutty, bitter and a bit sour with moderate fruity hops. The finish was long dry, nut and fruit. Decent.

Such a noble cause! Drink beer and support your local fire department. Reminds me of a few poker runs I’ve been on with my Harley. Yes there is a little reddish orange in the color but it is not truly ruby red as described. More like the color of a good brown ale. Hardly any head on this one. Has a good beery aroma and it is a little sweet smellin. Fine clean flavor of refined ale on the initial sip. Quite a treat, friendly and easy. I like this stuff. Has just enough impact to let you know you are enjoying a decent beer. Reminds me of Corsendonk in a special way. Corsy tactfully hides the alky content welll but this does not. A little bit of bitterness builds on the back of the palate with each taste. and lasts for a while on the finish. Interesting, glad I had the chance to taste this.
