Rated at Perennial Artisan Ales. Dry, spicy and roasty with some vegetabley aged coffee notes, some hints of chili, vanilla and cocoa. A bit heavy and unbalanced

--Sample, thanks fonefan! -- Black, small beige head. The nose is dominated by cinnamon and vanilla. Mid sweet with full body and well rounded mouthfeel. Delicate notes of chocolate and mild coffee, very mild ancho chili. And then wrecked by shitloads of cinnamon and too much vanilla. Reminds me of that Monty Python sketch, just a tiny bit of rat. If they just would have held back on the additives, this could have been sublime.

Sample (thanks fonefan!). Black colour small beigeish brown head. Aroma is coffee, toffee, cinnamon, some cacao, mild toasted tones with some vanilla and a bit sweet nutty tones. Flavour is quite strong alcohol, some nutty tones with mild cacao, strong coffee and some chocolate syrup. Smooth. Alcohol gives a slight burn on the gums though.

On tap at Shelter, sample pours opaque black, long legs, ring of dark brown head. Coconut and cinnamon on the nose, chocolate covered coffee bean, nutmeg, malt, toast. Flavors of chocolate and coconut and malt and cinnamon mostly, the coffee is a touch washed out here. Molasses. Dark fruit is gone too. Finishes full bodied, long, off dry. 9 3 8 4 15
