Somewhere between German nunce and American excess Fantasm Planes is a beer we’re just defining by colour for the moment. We started making a Kolsch Style ale with all German malt, minimalist water and Kolsch Yeast and merged the Sauvignion Blanc character of Hallertau Blanc hops with US Citra and Amarillo. The result is an airy, ultra-modern ‘Extra Pale’ that bellows a nose of lychee, tangerines, citrus fruits and white wine.

Can. Wine Rack, Sharrow, Sheffield. Medium gold. Fully hazy. Swirl and ring of creamy, white head. Nose has beautifully fresh, bright citrus, which comes across almost minty and herbal. Notes of lime leaf. White grape (the Hallertau presumably). Clean malt backdrop. Taste is a little dry, with a tangy, citrusy bitterness. Little sweetness here. Medium body. Foamy carbonation. A tad oily. Fresh and crisp bitterness to finish. Lovely pale ale.

Can from Wine Rack at Yarnton Nurseries, Yarnton, Oxon consumed at home Saturday 28th October 2017 on Ponding weekend. Listening to Snapped Ankles. Hazy yolky gold with a sticky white head. Lovely aroma, juicy fruits, tropical with a hint of mango amongst. Really fruity, wonderful bittersweet balance of malt and hops, it sings across the tongue. Love this. A8 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 4.1
