BA American Strong Ale
A full-flavoured American strong ale, brewed with US hops and lovingly aged in apricot brandy barrels.
Taste: The first sips reveal a soft malt character and a distinct fruitiness with notes of poached pears and dried light stone fruits. The beer becomes more warming and comforting as it warms up, leaving a pleasant aftertaste of cracked walnuts, fig jam and baking spices that linger long after the final sip.
Appearance: Bright chestnut brown with a pillowy beige head.
Nose: Bursting with the inviting and luscious aroma of ripe apricots, complemented by the underlying notes of candied pecans, freshly cut vanilla beans and lightly toasted oak wood.
Malts: Golden promise, Munich light, Golden naked oats, Crystal T50
Hops: Columbus, BRU-1, Pink Boots blend (Loral, Ekuanot and HBC 586)
OG 30° ; FG 9.9° ; IBU 40
Serve 12–16 ˚C

On tap at Yeccan, pours black with a small tan head. Aroma is full of brandy barrels, booze, dark sugars, and dark dried fruits. Flavour is extremely complex, with dark dried fruits, brandy barrels galore, booze, and some toasted malt. Assertive barrels, great malt base, blended beautifully. Excellent.

On tap at Yeccan. Pours an opaque very dark brown with a beige head. Dark sugars, molasses, and apricot brandy on the nose. Flavour is rich with loads of dark sugars, molasses, tart dried fruit, and an excellent brandy character. This is excellent, great integration of the base with the barrels.

Smell of sweet malt, apricot. Dark brown colour, no head. Aroma of apricot, some sweet malt, candy. Soft carbon. Very sweet, yet hides ABV well.

330 ml bottle. Pours a dark reddish brown with very little head. Aromas of caramel, sugary raisins, sweet liqueur and toasted malts. Flavors follow same with additional sweet brandy and oak. Initially sweet but finishes dry. Excellent.

Bottle from Mitra Assendorp, Zwolle. Aroma is sugary apricot with brown and dark malts, caramel, wood, apricot brandy, bit syrupy. Sugary stone fruit. Sweet with a touch of alcohol. Medium to full body. Very nice.
