We wanted to brew Cookie Monster having two main ideas. First, that it needs to be a beer that has an ABV above 10% without added sugar. That gives the syrupy creaminess of this classic.
Second, we were very specific about the “dark malts/chocolate/coffee” – “dried fruits/prune” – “biscuit/caramel” balance. We had this taste in mind, and we experimented until we thought we got it.

Bottled. A black beer with a lazing dark brown head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, cookies, bread, and milk. The flavor is sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, cookies, and chocolate, leading to a dry roasted finish.

From tap at Szimpla, Berlin. Black color with beige brown head. Roasted malty aroma, toasted bread, chocolate, cocoa, biscuit, caramel, molasses, light alcohol. Sweet and moderate to heavy bitter taste. Full silky creamy body with soft carbonation.

Eigentlich hätte ich mir dieses Bier etwas würziger mit einem Keksgeschmack erwartet. Ist es aber nicht. Man erhält ein klassisches Imperial Stout mit einem ordentlich vollem, bitteren Stoutgeschmack, das wirklich gut ist. Was mir überhaupt nicht gefallen hat und was am meisten an ein Cookie-Monster erinnert, sind die schleimigen schwarzen Gärreste, welche im Bier schwimmen.

On tap at Craft and Draft, pours a very deep black with a ring of khaki head, light legs. Nose has malt, chocolate syrup, booze, licorice. Heavy nose. Heavy flavor too, malt, molasses, chocolate syrup, booze, some toasted wood, a little port. Full bodied, sticky finish. 7 4 7 3 13

7 3 7 3 14Draft at Craft and Draft, Amsterdam. Black with a tan head. Aroma of butterscotch, toffee, chocolate, caramel, roast and dark malts. Flavour is light heavy sweet and bitter. Full bodied with soft carbonation.

Bottle on the 375 tour from Budpaest, 09/06/18. Pith black with a well presented tan cap. Nose is sweet malts, molasses, charr, fruit cake. Taste comprises chocolate fudge brownies, mellow roast, candied fruits, caramel, booze tunes, dates. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with warming alcohol. Ok impy.

Közepes, tartós hab, fekete szín. Édeskés csokis, aszalt gyümölcsös illat. Kávés, csokis, kenyeres ízvilág, aszalt gyümölcsös aromákkal. Testes, enyhén szénsavas, közepesen keserű. Nagyon finom, sütis stout.
