The almost mythical oyster stout as interpreted by Estonia's Tanker, from tap at Geus van Gent. Greyish beige, interruptedly cobweb-lacing, medium thick, mousy head on a blackish beer with hazy dark chestnut brown edges. Aroma of wet toast, hard caramel, old charcoal, burnt acorns, unripe blackberries, cigar ashes, walnut, dried bladderwort, cold black coffee, salmiak, beef 'bouillon'. Sweetish onset but restrainedly old dried figs and raisin topped with a slightly soy sauce-like umami accent, medium carbonated; bitter-chocolatey and toasted-walnutty maltiness with indeed a vaguely salty edge from the oysters as well as a thin meaty touch; bready yeastiness and earthy hoppiness join in near the end, alongside lingering roasty bitterness (roasted chicory) and nuttiness, with a spicy hop bitter note. Indeed showing a very mild saltiness and thus capable of pleasing the geeks who believe oyster stout is an actual historical thing, but like most other Tanker beers I've had so far, lacking in focus and detail, with a too 'dirty' and earthy profile to be truly great.

33cl bottle from Sip, Tallinn. Pours dark mahogany with a moderate, beige head. Roasty aroma with notes of dried fruits, cocoa and hints of wood and some slightly earthy notes. Medium sweet with medium flavour intensity, some lightly acidic notes and a light bitterness.Quite drinkable.

330ml bottle from SIP, Tallinn. Pours dark brown with some light brown foam on the top. Nose is roasty, some coffee bean character, light cocoa and burnt black rye bread. Tastes dry, roasted and with light herbal bitterness. Bit rough and unbalanced, bit too much on the herbal bitter side. Otherwise not bad, dry finish, lingering medicinal bitterness.

Bottle, thanks fatphil. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma and flavor are coffee, roast, malt, sugar, dryness, some salt maybe. Feels quite neutered. Overall: ok.
