bottle from the Morag hostel bar in St. Augustus - Pours dark brown with minimal head. It smells of dark roast malt and coffee. The taste is similar along with a little chocolate. Itβs medium bodied and quite decent.

50cl Bottle brought from Scotland, thanks mom&Henk! ABV 4.6%. Clear reddish brown to black colour, stable light beige head. Aroma of roasted malts, bit of dark fruits and a hint of chocolate. Flavour is chocolate, roasted malts, liquorice, some light sweet dark fruits. Coffee bitter finish. Nice beer, but a bit shy, itβs a bit thin.

Cask @ National Winter Ales Festival 2009, Manchester. Pours a dark brown color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty coffe aroma with some hints of chocolate. Roasted malty chocolate flavor with some bitter hints. Has a roasted malty chocolate and coffee finish with some bitterness in the aftertaste.

Bottle 50cl.Alc. 4.6%. Clear light to medium brown color with a small to average, fizzy, fair lacing, fully diminishing, llight beige head. Aroma is moderate to light light heavy malty, roasted, burnt, coffee, nutty notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and bitter with a average to long duration. Body is medium, texture is oily, carbonation is soft to flat. [20081122]

Bottle 50 cl. Courtesy of yespr. Warm orangey brown with a rough, beige head. Aroma of chocolate, hard roasted malt and a whiff of tar. Medium-bodied, low in carbonation with licorice and hard roasted malts. Malt bitter finish. 221108

A very lively bottle bought at a Real Food store in Edinburgh. Light-brown, dense head over a jet black body with a russet tint. Firm smell of coffee and chocolate. Taste of sweet dark malts, slightly roasted and spiced. Nuts and bitter dark chocolate towards the ending. A bit too light in the mouth [hotel room, 24.10.2008].

50 cL bottle. Pours dark brown with a fully gone head. Roasted malty and slight liqourice note in the aroma. Bitter and acidic hardroasted malty with a nice mix of liqourice, coffee and a bit of chocolate smoothness. Nice bitter and roasted malty finish.

[i] [b] Bottle, many thanks to Craig cgarvie for this one, cheers Craig. [/i] [/b] Poured black with a small white bubbly head. Some sourness and suphurous notes and even some metallic thing going on there, wondering whether this was infected as it was just well, sour really, also appley fairly sure this was a bad un as a porter that tastes more like cider canβt be right can it? I will rate this again if ever I see it and note this rating certainly isnβt a dig at the brewery.

Bottle (purchased at the brewery): literally black, small but persistent tanned foamy layer; dark dried berries in the aroma, underpinned by a distinctive sourish roast-malty bitterness; soft MF, light bodied, moderate bitter-sweet flavour, mainly dry; bone dry, ashy roasted bitter finish. A good, well crafted Porter.........
