Project 23 is our latest collaboration with Westwell Vineyard. A mixed fermentation beer was aged in Cognac barrels for three years before it was added to 200kg of unfermented, foot crushed Pinot Noir grapes. Fermentation of the grapes ran through the beer, producing an intense wine character.

Bottled. Hazy orange colour, small head. Tart grape aroma. Mid sweet with evident tartness. Lots of grapes and funky wood. Citric with grape skins. Mid bitter finish.

Cloudy medium purple color. No head. Smells like blueberry hame on cream cheese. Nice like oak, blueberry funky yeasty, fairly tart and light. Super easy drinking. Superb for a blueberry saison

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up from BS online. Pours broadly clear red-amber-gold with a slight, creamy white head. Light-medium sweet flavour with moderate salinity, a little funk, soft acidity, some citric bite, mild grape notes. Medium bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Faintly warming finish, fairly dry, a little wood, tangy berry, lemon, a little white pepper, oaky notes, a pinch of earth. Nicely rounded and complex. Drinks well for the strength. Great stuff overall.

Bottle from Drinkmonger. Hazy ruby/pink body with a thin off-white head. Lively carbonation. Patchy lacing. Aroma of grape and blueberry. Flavour of tart raspberry, salted lemon and a wine-like finish. A classy and tasty beer. The sharp flavour is unique, interesting and nicely subtle.

Lovely stuff. No notes. Tart and Geuze like perhaps but I’ve messed up here. But I remember it was very nice.

Bottle. Online. Hazed deep pink. Fusty grape skin. Whiff of sweet raspberry. Sweet cognac notes. Sits well. Taste is semi sweet with some vinous character. Smooth under the ABV drinking. Light dry and light tart finish. Had a couple of these now but drank the first one too quickly to rate it…

Big bottle from rad on holiday. Pale reddish colour with a third thin head. Aroma and taste are tart grape fruity. Slight dry. And a hint of boozy cognac. Crisp body.
