Despite Simplex being an ale, it has all the characteristics of an old-styled pils. It is a blond, unfiltered, unpasteurized, hoppy and bitter beer that remains low in alcohol. Resulting in a straw blonde, highly drinkable beer with plenty of flavor and character.

Taste: Refreshing, light and with a firm bitterness

Bottle, 0.33l. Cloudy golden pour, one finger frothy white head, long lasting. Thick lacing on the glass. Nice on the nose, grassy, herbal, ripe citrus fruits. Medium body, lively carbonation. Fizzy mouthfeel, average texture, lightweight and easily drinkable. Moderately bitter taste balanced with mild sweetness in the background. Aroma of yeast, grains, hay. Grassy notes, ripe citrus, bubblegum, spice. Lingering hop bitterness. Medium lasting finish, dry, bitter, earthy. Solid.

Bottle. Rather thin body and high carbonation. Med-high bitterness, low sweetness. Lots of doughy grainy bready flavour, slightly phenolic. Med-light earthy hops character. Okay, drinkable, nothing too interesting though.

33cl bottle from Abeervinum, Rimini, Italy. Pours orange blond, partially hazy, with fine white foam. Aroma is spiced, with a wonderful reminiscence of lambic. Body and carbonation are average. Taste is fairly bitter, especially in the final, which is earthy.

Bottle, 4.5%. Good malty and yeasty aroma with a mild bubble gum note. Hazy golden colour. Ok stable white head. The flavour is bitter and yeasty. So yeasty that it reminds me of mediocre homebrew.

Bottle from Systembolaget. Gentle aroma that blends pilsner and golden belgian. Nice appearnce with lasting froffy foam. Taste is an interesting mix of those two styles. Still, wouldn't order another if in a bar.

Bottle, huge thanks Nino and Casey for sharing with us! Hazy golden-yellow body, white head. Hmm... fruitier than expected profile, some cooked fruit touches, but not in a bad way, with very well integrated phenolics and noticeable bitterness. Good stuff!
