Despite Simplex being an ale, it has all the characteristics of an old-styled pils. It is a blond, unfiltered, unpasteurized, hoppy and bitter beer that remains low in alcohol. Resulting in a straw blonde, highly drinkable beer with plenty of flavor and character.
Taste: Refreshing, light and with a firm bitterness

Bottle 33 cl. Pours a cloudy golden with floating impurities and a lacing, off-white head. Fruity, lightly spicy nose. Medium body, a dry fruitiness, slightly flowery with a distinct hoppiness. 260426

Slightly hazy golden colour with a mediumsized foamy white head. Aroma is somewhat skunky "lagery" with mild herbs. Flavour is grassy, herbal, some grainy tones with mild vegetables as well. Luckily not a Pils, as it would have had some flaws for a lager.

33 cl. bottle @ home, bought @ van Rooij, Culemborg.
Hazy golden with a white head. Hoppy aroma with some citrus. Pleasantly bitter with nice long bitter finish. Great off-beat beer, more complex than the name implies.

Sampled at Max's Belgian Fest 2025, clear gold, just a little white head. Nose is nice, grain, sugary, some candy but some grassy character. Chewy in the mouth and the grain hits harder, biscuit, some continental hop, dried grasses. Medium bodied, dry and lightly bitter.

Bottle from Hopt. Aroma is grassy hop with grainy malt, hay, flowers, peppery spicy yeast. Flavour is light sweet with a relatively bitter and dry finish. Body is almost medium. Superb hoppy Belgian that drinks like a Lager indeed, I could drink a couple of these.
