A beer from a favorite brewery of mine. The style? Well, we will see this time around, often uninspiring. 12 oz bottle from the responsive people at Half Time. The pour is amber unsurprisingly with a modest head of off-white foam. I smell hops and grain. The taste is decent in the style, plenty of hoppiness, cereal, a caramel sweetness and plowed field. A decent enough departure beer.

Clear, ripe peach-amber. Large, peach-tinted head, well-retained.
Very toasty, somewhat acidic, heavy crystal malt in the nose. There is some base malt, but it's certainly outdone by the peachy, toasty, punchy crystal.
Ok. It's lightly roasted yet somehow not toasty overly caramelly or full of iced tea. There's ample base malt depth and richness, good attenuation and an almost juicy hoppiness that does showcase both herbal, floral and juicy citrus notes as they mention (new and old world hops). Good one from 3F! Say what you will about 3F, but they don't really make average beers. Only good and bad ones.

Pours mostly clear amber with a small off white head. Smells of caramel malt and some mild hops. The flavor is of toasted caramel malt with mild to moderate hops bitterness. There are more hops than most beers of this style. Good.

12 ounce bottle from Trenton Road Takeout. Copper colored pour is topped by a rocky beige head. Toasted malt nose hints at caramel and spicy hops. Flavor mirrors nose. Some bitter greens and sticky pine. Dry bitter finish.

Hazy brownish red with a three-finger head. Aroma is fruity and hoppy. Taste is mild hoppiness.

Notes from 3/20/2008. Still in a haze from St. Patty's weekend, & before I weigh the pros & cons of shaving off my red beard, I take one last moment to reflect with Brian Boru. Poured into a standard pint glass, the ivory-colored head rises & falls, but settles as a soft film that sits over a layer of carbonation that is trapped between it & the actual beer. Movement underneath constantly reinforces the sublayer, but doesn't disturb the surface. Well until my beard goes for a dip anyways. I knew there was a reason I wanted to shave it off. : - Doughy & sprinkle sweet, with a hop character somewhere between the forcefulness of zest & savoriness of the holy trinity. My beard is fully submersed. Expecting a hop bomb, after only a slight jab of coffee/rind bitterness, I get submersed into a toasty & smoked background, filled with pretzels, caramel, & straight up grain. A little ash & steel stand out in the finish. Carbonation feels surprisingly low. Barely a tingle on my tongue & as a result, the alcohol becomes more apparent. Drinkability is strong, but isn't what it could be because of mouthfeel. Also, because this is the first thing in my stomach today, I'm already feeling it. I'm such a pussy. :P Thanks go out to kmpitz2 for the opportunity.

Tan brown with a medium sized fluffy head that left good lacing. Sweetish, tangy and malty with a moderate fruity hop note. Medium finish and body.
