12 ounce bottle. Bottled on 12/27/23. Opaque dark brown color. Frothy tan head. Roasted malt aroma hints at oak and cocoa. Flavor is roasted malt, oak, chocolate and mild chilies. Some hints of vanilla, bourbon and dark fruits as well. The 12% ABV kicks in as the brew warms.

12 oz. bottle, pours black with a medium light brown head. Aroma reveals plenty of bourbon barrels and coffee upfront, with a touch of spicy chilis and a hint of cocoa powder. Flavour is still mostly a function of the roasted coffee and bourbon barrels; the chili is very light, just adding subtleties, with plenty of chocolate. The base beer carries this. The chilis add the subtlest of nuances. Excellent.

Chili pepper, smoky chocolate malt, and hay/grass aroma. Black with nice brown head. Moderately sweet vegetal chocolate malt, and moderately bitter chili pepper and hay flavor. Good body - very light heat in the finish.

12 oz bottle. Pours black with a tan head. Cocoa aroma with some spice, bourbon, and roastiness. Flavor leans more into the bourbon, with syrupy cocoa, oaky vanilla, coffee, and the chili spiciness. I could use more chilies, but this is pretty solid.

Bottled 12/26/23, drunk 2/9/24. Dark, clear, filtered. Medium-to-small, light-tan head slowly to cover. Green pepper, pepper flesh and juice. Very raw, very dominant. Maybe a dusting of cocoa, light bourbon spice and surprisingly scant malt. Not boozey, though. Smokey chili with juicy pepper flesh and dry, lightly roasty notes on the end. Medium-bodied with lightly spicy, but pretty faint barrel character overall. Chocolate, chili, light alcohol on the finish. A bit sugary, a bit underwhelming in texture/carbonation. I love chili much more than the next guy, but they didn't do a great job here. The barrel mellowing things keeps it from being a drainpour, but this is pretty middling at best. Lingering bourbon tannin on the finish (coconut-forward). Alcohol comes out in nose and flavor after less than five minutes of breathing.

2024 released bottle from Livonia Liquor. Pours a deep brown to black with a small beige head that dissipates. Coffee and chocolate present on the nose with some oak and warming bourbon aromas. Pepper doesn't really come out until it warms up quite a bit. Good body on the palate with more chocolate and chili pepper notes. Bourbon on the finish. Not bad.
