Schramm’s Erik the Red was named for Erik Thorvaldsson, a classic Norseman, who sailed around the North Atlantic like it was a wading pool. Erik the Red is one of Ken Schramm’s signature meads, a member of his original line-up. This bold blend of red raspberries and tart cherries has been refined and improved upon over decades of batches.

Bottle, Schramm's tasting #1. Deep reddish purple. Cherry forward, with a nice tartness. Sweet raspberries underneath the ripe cherry flavor. Some honey balances out the tart. Great!

Dark red, clear, fairly thick. Heavy fruity smell, sweet, boozy, cherry, raspberry. Nice body, not too thick but soft and luscious, with a warming boozyness. Taste is rich and intense fruity jam, like we love from Schramms. Loads of cherry and raspberry.

Did not expect to love this as much as I did, the cherry turns out to be tangy sweet which really pairs with the jammy raspberry well for a uniquely fantastic experience.

Bottle @ Forstads Bryghus-share thanks to Erik! Pours dark red, still. Aromas of cherries, jammy raspberries, floral honey. Taste has lots of sweet raspberries, cherries, light acidic, almondy, vanilla, floral honey finish. Classic schramms. Fucking delicious.

Bottle. Deep purple color with no head. Aroma is deep cherry - raspberries, honey, light vine. Taste is cherries, raspberries, tannic, extremely balanced and full at the same time. Thick oily mouthfeel. Very, very good!

Chilled 375 ml clear bottle, 1/10/2018 corked, poured into a glass. Dark red. Aroma is rich cherries and thick body. Taste is rich slightly tart cherries and sweet honey.
