Bottle picked up from Beer Merchants, Hackney Wick, London consumed at home Sunday 18th March 2018 whilst cooking Shepherds Pie. Pours dark brown, reasonably clear (touch of haze) with a slim off white head. Some dried fruit, caramel, a little raisin perhaps, nice roastiness, uncomplicated, good stuff. A7 A4 T8 P4 Ov15 3.8

Bottle at home, 03/03/18. Black with a well presented tan head of bubbles. Nose is big and roasted malts, toffee, fruit cake, light charr, liquorice, black peppery spice. Taste comprises bitter roast, dark chochocolate, aniseed, dried fruits, spice, touch of alcohol. Full bodied, fine carbonation, semi drying close with a rising level of booze evident. Decent flavoursome porter with a set of balls.

Bottle from the brewery in Bermondsey and drunk at home. Black beer with a lasting tan head. Tarry oily dark chocolate. Lots better in the mouth. Some spicy liquorice finish. Some hoppy harsh finish. Big in the mouth but smooth. It's good. Yes it's 9.5% and you can see why but it hides the strength well. I liked the spicy chocolate
