Black beer, creamy head. Creamy, malty aroma. Flavour is malty and a bit toasty, with milk chocolate, a dash of hop and some brown sugar. Nice smooth body. Very good and far too drinkable for the strength.

Bottle at home in Hackney - picked up at the brewery. Pours deep brown with a frothy, khaki head. Bit of roast and dry chocolate in the nose. Medium sweet flavour with sturdy roasted malts, bitter dark chocolate, some earth, suggestions of burnt leaves and subtle oxidation, bits of ash. Medium to full bodied with fine, massaging carbonation. Warming finish, more ashy roast, bitter dry baking cocoa, burnt earth, touches of worn leather. A little torched brown sugar in the aftertaste. Solid overall. (January 2019, score: 3.7)

Bottle shared at CBC Holborn - cheers to Danny. Pours brown with a creamy tan head. Relaxed aroma, some brown bread, toasted caramel. Medium sweet flavour with notes of creamy caramel, light earthy bitterness, bready malts. Medium to full bodied with fine carbonation and creamy texture. Lightly warming finish with some bitter chocolate, more toasted caramel. Very decent sauce. (May 2018, score: 3.7)

330ml bottle (9.5%) about 9 months old. Pours very dark brown, mostly clear, with a big beige head, well retained. Aroma of dark fruits, plums, roast malts. Taste is much more roasty than expected from the aroma, very bitter, dark fruits, a touch of chocolate, toffee, dried fruits, a little spicy and boozy. Medium-full bodied, fine carbonation. Decent rich porter, and quite a bitter one.
